YAMILA DE LA ROSA
MARIACHI
Yamila De La Rosa is a dedicated trumpet player and graduate of Texas A&M University–Kingsville, where she earned her degree in Trumpet Performance. A versatile and passionate musician, Yamila has performed in a wide range of ensembles—including jazz bands, wind bands, orchestra, and mariachi. While she enjoys exploring all styles of music, her heart belongs to mariachi.
That passion led her to an exciting new chapter in summer 2025, when she joined the world-renowned Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles—the first all-female professional mariachi ensemble in the United States—under the direction of acclaimed musician and composer José Hernández. Yamila is honored to contribute to the group’s powerful legacy and looks forward to sharing her love of mariachi with audiences across the country and beyond.
In addition to performing, Yamila has developed a deep love for composition. She wrote her first piece for wind ensemble in 2024 and has since embraced composing as a way to reflect on and express everyday experiences. In July 2025, she premiered her newest work, Ameliorate—a piece for saxophone, flute, and piano—at the Texas New Music Festival.
