KEVIN CASTREJON PERALTA
MARIACHI
Kevin Castrejon Peralta is a dedicated mariachi musician and educator whose passion for music was nurtured in a household where melodies of all kinds filled the air. Though not all of it was mariachi, growing up surrounded by everything from romantic ballads to regional Mexican genres instilled in him a deep appreciation for music as both an art form and a reflection of cultural identity. This early exposure laid the foundation for a lifelong devotion to music.
Kevin’s formal musical journey began in sixth grade at Von Tobel Middle School under the guidance of Javier and Samantha Gastellum. Initially drawn to the guitar, he transitioned to vihuela in eighth grade, where his connection to mariachi truly deepened. He later attended the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts, where, despite academic challenges, his love for music continued to grow. By his junior and senior years, he earned a position in the school’s top mariachi ensemble.
Following graduation, Kevin dedicated himself fully to music, serving as a guest instructor at Las Vegas High School, where he worked with students on armonía. Under his guidance, the group went on to win Best Armonía at the 2025 Monaco Middle School Invitational Mariachi Competition (High School AA Division).
Now based in California, Kevin performs with Mariachi Corazón de Mi Tierra, directed by acclaimed musician Christopher Rubalcava. As an educator, he is passionate about teaching with precision, purpose, and cultural pride—ensuring that every student, regardless of skill level, leaves with a stronger connection to their roots and the inspiration to carry the tradition of mariachi forward.
