RIVERSIDE COMPOSER FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM (NEW!)
Units: 3
Grade Levels: 10th - 12th
Location: TBD
Schedule: Thursdays, 6:00pm-9:00pm
The Riverside Composer Fellowship Program is a specialized course for high school students interested in composing music. Under the mentorship of RAA’s Executive & Artistic Director, Adam Karelin-Anderson, students will study composition, theory, harmony, counterpoint, and orchestration to hone their craft and develop their unique artistic voice.
Throughout the program, students will compose multiple original works for professional musicians, participate in workshops and readings, and receive individualized feedback through lessons, seminars, and rehearsals. Fellows will complete the program with a professional portfolio of scores and recordings of their original works.
Students need not have had prior experience composing, but any samples of songwriting, arranging, or composing will certainly strengthen a student’s application.
Prior composing experience is not required. However, students who have experience with songwriting, arranging, improvisation, notation software, or original composition are encouraged to submit work samples as part of the application process.
