Alex Treviño II is a highly accomplished musician, visionary leader, and educator who currently serves as Head of Mariachi Programs at the Riverside Arts Academy (RAA). Under his leadership, RAA’s mariachi initiatives have achieved unprecedented success, reaching full capacity and inspiring record-breaking student enrollment and engagement. His innovative approach to teaching and artistic direction has transformed the cultural landscape of Southern California, establishing RAA’s mariachi program as one of the most vibrant and respected in the United States.
A former member of the Grammy Award-winning Mariachi Los Camperos and the Grammy-nominated Mariachi Los Arrieros Del Valle, Treviño has toured and recorded across the globe, performing in cities such as Tokyo, Beijing, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Chicago, New York, Miami, and Los Angeles. His performances reflect both technical mastery and deep cultural authenticity, earning him recognition as one of the most versatile and dynamic mariachi musicians of his generation.
Treviño is a graduate of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and served as Student Director of Mariachi Aztlán, the most prestigious collegiate mariachi ensemble in the world. His experience at UTRGV helped shape him into a forward-thinking educator who seamlessly bridges traditional artistry with modern pedagogy.
In 2022, Treviño founded a successful private music studio in South Texas, offering both in-person and online instruction to cultivate the next generation of musicians. Now, as Head of Mariachi Programs at RAA and overseer of mariachi initiatives across Southern California, he continues to expand access to high-quality music education, strengthen community engagement, and inspire countless young artists to achieve their dreams.
