DIRECTOR OF PHILANTHROPY
Scott Director is an accomplished composer, percussionist, and music educator based in Los Angeles, California.
A lifelong musician, he began performing professionally while still in high school with regional orchestras and ensembles, launching a career that bridges performance, education, and arts leadership.
Scott earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Miami, where he studied under renowned composers and conductors Clifton Williams, Frederick Fennell, and Alfred Reed. His career as a composer and arranger has garnered national recognition—his works for concert band and wind ensemble are published worldwide by Alfred Publishing, and his compositions Glaciers and The Young Royals were both honored with JW Pepper’s Editor’s Choice distinction.
As a percussionist, Scott has performed with operas, orchestras, and ballet companies, in the “pit” for Broadway musicals, and alongside celebrated entertainers including Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, Luciano Pavarotti, and Plácido Domingo. His experience also extends to film and media, with several short film scores to his credit as a member of ASCAP.
With more than 25 years of experience as a music educator, Scott has taught students across all levels and has been deeply involved in promoting music education nationwide. As Education Support Manager for Conn Selmer, he developed professional programs for music educators from elementary through higher education across the Western United States.
Throughout his multifaceted career—as performer, composer, and teacher—Scott has remained dedicated to inspiring musicians of all ages and advancing the role of music education in the community.
