Riverside Arts Academy Offers Low Cost Music
Riverside students interested in learning to play in an orchestra can get low-cost lessons from an expert.
Kids ages 7 to 18 of any skill level can sign up for the Riverside Arts Academy’s Harmony Project Riverside Youth Orchestra, a six-week program directed by world-renowned concert pianist Alpin Hong.
Hong made his orchestral debut with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra at age 10 and subsequently won several competitions. He has released a number of critically-acclaimed albums and has performed in all 50 states, 30 countries, Carnegie Hall, and at the White House.
Weekly classes begin Nov. 14 and run through Dec. 23 and are held at the Cesar Chavez Community Center, 2060 University Ave., Riverside.
Riverside residents pay $10 for the classes in violin, viola, cello and bass. Non-residents pay $15.
Those who can’t afford instruments can borrow them at no charge.
